ROOTS & TIDES: A CINEMATIC JOURNEY THROUGH CLIMATE SOLUTIONS

Join us at Brunswick Picture House on Sydney Road for an inspiring monthly film series celebrating First Nations, Pacific and Asian cultural knowledge, storytelling and climate leadership. Each evening will be hosted by one of our inspiring campaign partners and feature a variety of hopeful, solutions-focused films that weave together First Nations and multicultural perspectives and ancient knowledges organised around three key themes:

🌳 FORESTS & TREES
Tuesday 30 June, 6.30pm - 8.00pm

Hosted by Larrakia artist and organiser Laniyuk, we'll screen these four short films:

  • baban darrang (mother tree) by GARUWA - Wurundjeri Country

  • A City In Nature by Wild Hope - Singapore

  • Rongoā Māori: Healing People & Place by Happen Films - Aotearoa

  • Rise by Saltwater Bird Creative - Larrakia Country

🌊 OCEANS & ISLAND HOMES
Monday 20 July, 6.15pm - 8.30pm

In partnership with Our Islands Our Homes & 350 Pacific featuring films from the Pacific & Torres Strait

🌱 FOOD & SOIL
Monday 24 August, 6.15pm - 8.30pm

In partnership with SAPNA South Asian Climate Solidarity featuring films from Odisha (India) and local First Nations stories

This film series is a collaboration between 350 Australia, Protect Larrakia Country, Asian Australians for Climate Solutions, SAPNA South Asian Climate Solidarity and Our Islands, Our Home. Each evening ends with ways you can continue to take action for people and planet from signing petitions and building new skills to making donations and planting native grasses and trees together.

The venue can host 210 people across all three events and we've conservatively estimated selling 90% of the tickets at $24.75 plus $2.18 fee each to cover the costs. Any donations above and beyond that will be split among the campaign partners in our work for climate justice.
